Karen Freedman is vice president and manager of enterprise learning for FM Global. She is responsible for all learning and training both for FM Global’s employees as well as its clients. She has transformed the company’s entire approach to learning by shifting the bulk of its educational offerings from the traditional “classroom” to a virtual learning environment (VLE).
In 2010, Freedman was named an insurance industry “Risk Innovator” by Risk and Insurance magazine.
Freedman joined FM Global in 1995 and prior to her current role, she held a number of other positions at FM Global, each with increasing responsibility, including assistant vice president, manager, enterprise learning, client technology solutions manager, senior learning consultant, documentation and learning specialist. Freedman began her career as a technical writer with AimTech Corporation.
A graduate of the University of Massachusetts Amherst, USA, Freedman holds a bachelor of arts in English. She is an active member of the American Society for Training and Development (ASTD) and the Learning Consortium.
