Sanjay Chawla, FM Global’s chief investment officer, was ranked in 2019 among the 10 most influential corporate CIOs worldwide according to Chief Investment Officer (CIO), an industry-leading news website.
Chawla joined FM Global as its chief investment officer in March 2018 and is charged with overseeing the firm’s general account and pension assets.
Prior to that, he was vice president and chief investment officer at Raytheon Company and responsible for combined pension assets of US$38 billion. His investment management responsibilities at Raytheon included portfolio construction and asset allocation across public and private markets, risk management, operations, ongoing performance monitoring and diligence.
Before his time at Raytheon, Chawla worked for Dow Chemical for 18 years and held various leadership roles in finance, primarily involving portfolio investments and treasury. His role included global asset allocation as well as enterprise and financial risk management at the corporate headquarters in Michigan, USA, and during expatriate assignments in Asia.
He received an MBA from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, Va., USA, and a bachelor’s degree in commerce (honors) from Shri Ram College of Commerce, Delhi University, India.
