FM Global’s Chief Operating Officer Jonathan W. Hall to retire after 37 years

Two New Senior Leadership Appointments Announced as a Result

JOHNSTON, R.I., USA—Jonathan W. Hall, chief operating officer of FM Global, one of the world’s largest commercial and industrial property insurers, will retire on July 1, 2018, after 37 years with the company.

During his tenure with FM Global, Hall has held a variety of leadership positions. Prior to his current role, he served as executive vice president with overall responsibility for various divisions within the organization, including underwriting and reinsurance, engineering and research, claims, marketing and enterprise learning, information services, and AFM, a member of the FM Global Group.

FM Global has also made two leadership appointments within senior management as a result of Hall's forthcoming retirement.

Malcolm C. Roberts has been appointed executive vice president, and will report to Thomas A. Lawson, chairman and chief executive officer. Roberts joined FM Global in 1995 as a loss prevention consultant and has held a variety of management roles within the company across the globe. In his new role, Roberts will have oversight of underwriting and reinsurance, engineering and research, client and global services, as well as marketing and enterprise learning. He most recently served as senior vice president, Eastern division manager, and holds a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering from the University of Birmingham, U.K.

Gerry L. Alonso has been appointed senior vice president, Eastern division manager. He succeeds Roberts and will oversee all client relations, underwriting, engineering, processing and administration for the division. Since joining FM Global in 1985 as a loss prevention consultant, Alonso has held various leadership positions throughout the organization. He most recently served as senior vice president, operations manager of FM Global’s Boston, Mass., USA, operations. Prior to that, Alonso was senior vice president and manager of claims. He holds a bachelor’s degree in petroleum engineering from Louisiana State University (La., USA).
